Ingredients:
1 ripe pineapple
1 punnet strawberries
1 kiwi fruit
1/4 cup kirsch liqueur (optional)
4 scoops ice cream, firmly frozen
5 egg whites
6 tablespoons sugar
Utensils:
Chopping board
Sharp knife
Electric mixer
Baking dish
- Turn oven to 180 degrees
- Cut top off pineapple
- Cut pineapple in half & trim ends so it will stand upright
- Scoop out centre and cut into chunks, discarding core
- Cut strawberries in half
- Peel and chop kiwi fruit
- Combine pineapple, strawberries & kiwi fruit (marinate in kirsch if required)
- Beat egg whites until they stand in peaks (to test lift beater and see if the peaks form and don't flatten)
- Slowly add sugar and beat until thick
- Place fruit back in pineapple shell
- Add two scoops ice cream
- Cover with egg white & sugar misture
- Decorate with strawberries
- Bake for 10 minutes or until meringue is golden brown
- Peel and slice onion, carrot & mushrooms
